Chicken Wire Frame Tutorial

The frame before it was painted. Iris wanted me to paint this frame and put some chicken wire across the back. She wanted a new thing to hang pictures on. I can see me making several of these things because she has a lot of pictures. Just kidding.

Here is me painting the frame outside. Iris wanted it white. I had to put some things on the newspaper because of the wind. That is why you see the flower pot and the other gizmo.

A painting job well done. I think it looks good.

A good painting job ruined. Iris wanted the frame to look old. So she chipped some of the paint away like you see here. Oh well, what ever the boss wants.

Here is the chicken wire that was attached to the back. The staple gun was not able to shoot the staples all the way in. I had to take a small hammer and gently tap them in the rest of the way. My hand looks very red. That is weird.

As you can see from the last picture, the chicken wire was over lapping the frame. So here I am trimming the wire back.
Here is Iris's Rooster in his pen.

After I hung it on the wall, Iris put her pictures on it. This picture was taken in my moms house in the States.

The complete finished product. Iris is so talented with her ideas. I would recommend this idea to anyone who want to try something new. This chicken wire frame would be great for family pictures and missionary prayer cards If you want to have some fun, take some chicken pictures and hang them up behind the wire. Now you have your own chicken coop in the house. Mom will just love this idea. I am only kidding about this idea.

What would you hang on it?

  6. This is a neat idea. And thanks for all the pictures to explain the process. I’d have to hang pictures of the kids. Maybe I’ll dress them like little chickens.

    Happy SITS Sharefest.

  8. My daughter-in-law just got some chickens so I had chicken coops on my mind. I was surprised when I saw it was wall art. Oops. But really - a very cute idea.

  9. Great job, guys! I am thinking about using chicken wire to re-do the doors on a rolling wooden cart that I have. This gave me some motivation. Thank you for linking up to Traffic Jam Weekend. I am pinning this!
