Before and After - Painted Kitchen Reveal

My dream for as long as I can remember was to have a white kitchen. Our first apartment had a greenish/teal kitchen, which just did not go with my style but had to do. I took comfort in knowing it was not forever.

Here in Germany most bigger rental apartments do not have a kitchen included and you have to buy your own, which you'd take with you if you ever moved.
So when we moved into this place May of last year we desperately needed a kitchen. First we were planning on buying one...a big expense...but the Lord let us get one FOR FREE from strangers that needed to get rid of theirs before their new kitchen came in.

When we looked at it Patrick and I both knew THIS IS THE ONE...it's free...the appliances are all under 2 years....and the style is farmhouse.

There was only one problem...it was not white. Ha! That is what paint is for!

February 2018 - Home Tour

For this month I thought I'd do a simple little tour of the rooms that are presentable...the rooms you would get to see if you'd come over my house.
The other rooms are still going through the sorting through boxes stage and are far from presentable... but in the next few weeks  3 other rooms should be looking presentable as I have family coming to visit next month!
What?? Only 4 more weeks to get them done?? Oh no. :D
On top of working full time and getting those rooms organized my mom and grandma are in the process of downsizing and moving...so we shall see how much I get done.

Little Changes & Big Changes

So I said you'd be hearing from me more and now it's almost a month later!

It's been a crazy month of moving in two weeks...working full time...trying to get the kitchen functional and buying/building the stuff we need.

It's still quite some time before I will feel like it's more "done" but with one project done after the other...it's starting to feel more and more like a dream home I never knew I could have. The Lord has been AMAZING!

So I am doing a lot of rearranging at my house. Organizing and rearranging my bedroom (which I can't wait to reveal) meant finding "homes" for various furniture pieces. One of my antique childrens table & chair set will be be in the stairway...and I want it to be nicely decorated and welcoming. So where did I go for inspiration? Yep, Pinterest! Here are a few pictures I enjoyed.

6 Essential Steps to Aparment Decorating

Apartment decorating. Love her 6 tips to make your apartment or any room look good!

I fell in love with designing as a teen. I love creating anything! My cutting and glueing (which I still like to do) turned  into painting and rearranging furniture. With each move my room got smaller, so I learned to have an eye for size and fits even without having to move anything. Most of the time I can look at something and tell you if it fits or not....and that brings me to my first point.

Apartment decorating. Love her 6 tips to make your apartment or any room look good!
1. Know Your Space

Measure and Stare at your space as you need to. Do you have something in mind. Try to picture it. Do you think it looks good? Measure to make sure your right before moving furniture. (Unless you are excited then just do it and figure out the hard way if your eyes were correct.)

2. Get Inspired

My favorite place now to get inspired is no secrect. With my 11.5K pins on pinterest I hang out there every day. Before pinterest I was inspired by magazines and Home Decoration books I got from the library. Other people's homes you admire is a great place to be inspired. Other people's homes you admire is a great place to be inspired. Also, Invaluble.com has a wide variety of art work and decorative pieces available for bidding or for inspiration. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

3. Create a theme

Things will come together so much better if you have a theme. Do you want a modern look, a earthy feel or a beach house? What colors go well together? Which colors compliment those themes? Often you will go with something that already resonates with you. So look what you already have an bring it together. Start keeping your eye open for sales that showcase your theme.

4. Create a mood

How do you want people to feel in that room. Cozy, relaxed, fresh, alive, inspired. Textures, colors & layout can create different moods.

5. Work with colors

Like I said above colors dictate moods! Use colors that create the mood you want to set and let it work well with your theme. Colors can really make a theme come out. Bright orange will not do well a earthy feel, neither will hot pink make you feel like you are at the beach....but it sure is a happy and inspiring color!

6. Multi Use

That might be a made up word but what I mean is that with a small space you need to make the most with what you have. Pretty storage is a great way to have a place for your stuff but also is decorative. Baskets and pretty designed boxes are your best friend.

I hope these 6 points were helpful. Before you go and decorate your place...do you plan before decorating or do you jump right in?

Under Sink Organization

So my #1 goal for during my break is ORGANIZING! And here is the first project I accomplished. Under the sink was a crazy mess. I didn't know I had extra gloves and thought I was out of big trash bags.....cleaning up saves money. ☺

Valentines Mantle

So I got my Valentines mantle done this weekend and I quite love it! ☺ The roses were actually a surprise gift from Patrick last Monday...and I decided to use them for my decorations. Sadly the entire shelf fell down once....breaking some of the stems and smooshing my beautiful roses.

Winter Mantle

I didn't entirely want to get rid of my decorations and decided to just change Christmas to Winter. I really like how it turned out....it looks so beautiful in the dark. Sadly my camera is not as good as our eyes and all you could see was a few blue dots. So this must suffice.

Dear Winter,
Don't only bring cold and grey days. Give us crisp days with snow. Thank you winter.... I love those beautiful white days.

9 Printables for Couples

1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8/ 9

So the biggest project during Christmas break was organizing and "purtifying" our bedroom. You see, we didn't have a way to hang our clothes...and well....I will tell the full story another time...but now we finally do and we are slowly organizing our little space.

I spray painted my various frames to match each other, already getting wedding pictures printed but would like to do a small collage on my only free wall....sigh....I love walls.....but I live under a roof  with slanted walls....sigh

Anyway, so I went hunting for some sweet printables I could add to my collage and these 9 were my favorite. I am still deciding on with one I should actually do.

Hmm, tell me which one you'd choose!

Christmas Tour 2014

I copied the lyrics board idea from a picture I saw on pinterest
A nativity scene we've had a long time but never used at my mom's house....
My Christmas pillows....
Who doesn't like Candles to relax?
My living room....pick a seat.
Cookies anyone?
My advent Candles
In the Kitchen
Peaking into the Kitchen
Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow
Do you celebrate on the 24th or 25th?

May I say I am proud of my little apartment? It's so cozy....that's the perfect word to describe my apartment under the roof...with all the wood.

And I must say that Christmas is my favorite holiday...the only holiday you can go all out with decorations....and that is what I did. Ok...not overwhelming but just touches of Christmas scattered throughout my little home.

Welcome to my little home...would like some tea, coffee or hot cocoa?
